My Sad Attempts At Blogging

I might be one of the most inconsistent bloggers ever! I have no idea if anyone even reads this blog, but I thought I should post something about my life. It has been really, busy if you can imagine.

Here is the update. I have about two months left of law school. I have sent in my application to bar, and have taken the first portion of the bar exam. It has been a whirlwind of an experience. I will have my graduation ceremony on May 2oth and a party on May 21st. I will send out some invites to my friends. I really can't believe three years have sped by so fast. It really freaks me out.

One of the biggest pieces of news happened at work recently. I am a student certified attorny for a gov't agency representings low income individuals. I defend people with all sorts of charges against them. So, on Friday I was in felony court, and I was representing a fellow. As I read the criminal complaint I knew that the charge was bogus. I walked right up to the county attorny, I mean I am just a little old student, and said this charge is terrible and should be dismissed. We opened up the statute book, read the statute together, and determined I was right. He said you are right the case will be dismissed.

This is very rare, and in fact I have never seen it happen at a felony level first appearance in the year I have been there. The guy was facing five years in prision, and I got the case thrown out. My client looked at me and smiled, and said do I need a piece of paper or something? I said no, just get the hell out of here, before they change their minds. The county attorney, shook my hand and said good job.

What an accomplisment. I showed up the county attorney. I am very grateful.
