A sad day. One of the pioneer and the first lady of the civil rights movements has died today. She fearlessly carried on her message of equality and non-violence after the death of her husband Dr. Martin Luther King J.R.
Few were as close to the foundation of the movement than she. While she will be missed, Ms. King will live on through the message she carried. The world has truly lost a leader today.
THE KING CENTER: Founded by Ms. King to carry on the message of her equality and non-violence
Excerpts from Martin Luther King J.R.'s "I Have a Dream Speech," given August 28, 1963 Washington, DC.
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."
"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."
