Light up your Camel Lights Girls

The Minneapolis City Council made history today. They became one of the few jurisdicitons nationwide to back peddal on the issue of a smoking ban. They have become one of the few that have caved under pressure to scale back their recently passed smoking ban. Starting Dec 31, 2005...Happy New Years! Where is my smokes....bars where liquor supplies over 50% of their income can obtain a permit to allow smoking indoors. Cough!

When I was smoking I never thought I would be one of those guys that got annoyed at smoking. When I was drinking and smoking, I would not dare go to the bar without 2 packs of smokes. I was one of those guys that lit his cig on the wrong end and burned you if you weren't careful. I never once thought about you and your nonsmoking friends. If you don't like it leave.

Fast forward four years, and i have completed 2 marathons under four hours. I don't care if anyone smokes, or that they smoke in bars. I will just suffer or not go out to those places, I won't stand around and bitch about...except in my blog. I am just sad that the city council voted the way they did. I liked going out and not smelling like ass afterwards. I guess it is back to leaving my coat in the car, so it doesn't need to be dry cleaned.

Hey you got a smoke I can bum...I smoked all mine.

No need to light up, GG. Sorry, girls..

It was Hennepin County, not Minneapolis. The Minneapolis, Bloomington and Golden Valley ordinances are still in place.

The HC ammendment was very limited (only about 75 places, max), temporary (sunsets in July 2006), and will do nothing to stop momentum toward a strong, statewide bill.
